The Weakest Link’s Romesh Ranganathan stunned as ‘rowdy’ Strictly stars turn on each other in tense celeb special

THE Weakest Link’s Romesh Ranganathan was left stunned as ‘rowdy’ Strictly stars turned on each other in a tense celebrity special.

The 43-year-old comedian is the new host of the rebooted quiz show, which was originally presented by Anne Robinson.

The series features a number of celebrity specials, but the one that brought the most surprises was the one with a cast of Strictly Come Dancing stars.

Speaking to The Sun Online and other media ahead of the first show, Romesh revealed: “You don’t really know how people are going to react to a competitive situation until they’re in it.

“For example the Strictly special, on Strictly everybody’s like ‘yeah I hope you do really well’ they’re all supportive and it’s a team and all that.

“But then on The Weakest Link they turn on each other, it’s a whole other dynamic.”

The episode will air the night of the Strictly final, and Romesh said it’s well worth a watch as the cast were a bit “rowdy.”

He told Clara Amfo, who hosted the Q&A and took part in the Strictly special: “When we did your show, I think this was good in the show, I would describe your group of colleagues on the Strictly special as one of the trickiest groups to keep in control of.

“I used to be a teacher and different sets of celebs behave in different ways and I would describe the Strictly celebs as Year 9 Friday lesson five.

“I felt like ‘this is going well and I’m enjoying this but it could get away from me pretty easily’.”

Romesh thinks viewers will also be surprised by pro-turned Strictly judge Anton Du Beke on the episode.

He explained: “As you saw Clara, Anton Du Beke was a super competitive guy, not only was he super competitive, he was also incredibly disappointed at other people’s performance.”

Romesh said Strictly judge Anton Du Beke was extremely competitive

The Weakest Link’s Strictly Special airs Saturday, December 18 on BBC One.
