“We will miss him dearly and our thoughts are with his family and friends x.”

Tributes flooded in as fans reacted to the news on the micro-blogging site.

Director Barnaby Edwards wrote: “Very saddened to hear that Stephen Greif has left us. A rock-solid performer with a voice as liquid and deadly as molten lava. When it came to playing villains, he was unsurpassed. His acerbic wit and obvious intelligence made him a joy to direct. Thanks for the fun, Stephen.”

A fan account for Blake’s 7 tweeted: “So sad to hear of the passing of Stephen Greif. A thoroughly decent chap, a hugely talented actor and always so appreciative of the love he had from Blake’s 7 fans at every event we were lucky to see him at. A terrible loss. Rest in power.”
