'Scammed' Darragh Ennis' slip-up nearly bags The Chase players £14k in nail-biting final

Darragh ‘The Mennace’ Ennis was on fire during Monday’s episode of The Chase. However, after a number of slip-ups in the final round, he almost lost out after finishing Bradley Walsh’s questions with just two seconds to spare. Contestants Aaron, David and Rachel made it to the final, and it was very touch and go as they almost bagged £14,000 between them. However, unfortunately for them, it wasn’t meant to be.

David was the first contestant to take on Darragh, and he managed to answer an impressive seven questions correctly in his cashbuilder round.

After being given the choice to win £27,000, David decided to play it safe and went for the £7,000 he had already won.

After sailing through to the final, it was Christine’s turn to try her luck against The Chaser.

Despite answering three questions correctly, Christine was no match for Darragh, and she was sent home.

Aaron was up next, and he managed to answer three questions right in his cashbuilder.

The player admittedly didn’t play well when he went head to head with Darragh, and he only just managed to make it through to the final round.

David and Aaron had won £10,000 together and were hoping Rachel would help their chances by winning more money.

The minister answered four questions in the cashbuilder, and despite getting pushed back by Darragh, she got through to the final with £4,000.

“Aaron, brilliant performance that, mate,” Bradley praised. “Lightning. I still think we are two or three short, but seriously well played.”

Bradley went on to point out to Darragh that Aaron had, “pulled that out of the bag”.

Darragh joked: “Do you ever feel like you’re being scammed completely?”

Darragh seemed to slip up several times during his final round as he struggled to answer some of the questions.

His error almost cost him, as The Chaser only managed to get through his 18 questions with just two seconds to spare.

The Chase viewers were also impressed by Aaron’s performance, and many took to social media to praise the player.

Bev penned: “Aaron – you carried your team in the final. Man of the Match.”

Andi tweeted: “Oh no, I so wanted Aaron to get some cash.”

While Karin added: “What a shame. Aaron so deserved to win .”

“Aaron single-handedly carrying the team,” Natalie pointed out.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
