Roy Keane settles Micah Richards score in BBC vs ITV World Cup match as pundit goes wild

Roy Keane got the better of Micah Richards as he claimed the winning goal as ITV beat BBC in a friendly match at the World Cup. The former Manchester United captain whipped his top off as he went wild in celebration despite his mis-hit shot taking a massive deflection off someone else before trundling past the ex-Manchester City star in the BBC goal.

Richards and Keane are both usually found on Sky Sports during the Premier League season and have struck up something of a bromance on screen. Much of their relationship revolves around the former full-back winding up the notoriously hard-to-please Irishman and he often cannot resist giving a dig back.

Keane got his own back as ITV faced BBC in a football match as they relaxed during the World Cup off day. The match entered a golden goal scenario with the 51-year-old blasting past Richards in goal via the aid of a massive deflection.

He went wild in the aftermath, taking off his top in celebration and jumping over a bin before getting taken down by his ITV colleagues. The broadcaster’s Twitter page called out Richards and the BBC as they posted the clip, writing: “A day off for the @ITVSport team today in Doha so of course, we played football.

“I don’t really get starstruck,” he told the Athletic earlier this year. “I did with (Patrick) Vieira when he came to Man City and worked with Thierry Henry on CBS, but Roy… he’s a Manchester United captain, a legend, and with the greatest respect to me, I shouldn’t even be allowed to sit next to him.

“But Roy is everything I didn’t expect him to be. It’s hard to explain without going over the top, but there’s this perception that he’s an angry, old… but he’s the nicest, most considerate guy. And on the other hand, I think I’ve helped bring out a side of him that a lot of people wouldn’t see. And I take great pride in that.

“I know I sometimes go a bit over the top in terms of getting reactions, but I love working with him.”
