Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has thrown his weight behind making a move for AC Milan star Rafael Leao after being impressed by his ‘incredible’ performance against the Blues in the Champions League. Graham Potter’s men ran out 3-0 winners in Wednesday’s match against the Rossoneri, but the Portugal forward put in an eye-catching performance despite being on the losing side.
Leao has become one of Chelsea’s top targets in recent times with Thomas Tuchel and now Graham Potter keen to add to the club’s forward options. The west London side have struggled in front of goal at times this season and it is an issue that has plagued the team over the past couple of years.
The 23-year-old is seen as one of the men to help ease these issues, coming in to link up with Aubameyang, Raheem Sterling and widely rumoured new signing Christopher Nkunku. He has scored four times in ten appearances so far this season, also contributing a further seven assists.
Now, Gabon captain Aubameyang has praised Leao for his performance at Stamford Bridge despite Milan falling to a 3-0 defeat. Leao was arguably the Serie A’s side’s most impressive man, particularly in the first half. However, his efforts were not enough to prevent the three points from remaining in London.

“A difficult team to play against, they play really good football,” he explained. “To tell the truth I didn’t expect them to be so strong, but I think we had the right intensity to beat them.
“It was really special against my former team, I’m very happy. We needed a reaction, especially in front of our fans and we’re happy with the three points.
“For me it was great, I’ve wanted to play against Milan for a long time and yesterday it finally happened. It’s always a pleasure and I’m really very happy.”
