Musk questions if Apple 'hates free speech' as advertising on Twitter 'mostly stopped'

Elon Musk has claimed that Apple “threatened” to pull Twitter from its iOS app store as he questioned whether the tech company “hates free speech” in a social media post. He also warned that Twitter witnessed a “massive” drop in revenue.

The Tesla CEO blamed activists for pressuring advertisers.

Mr Musk took aim at Apple in a series of tweets yesterday.

In one post, he said: “Apple has also threatened to withhold Twitter from its App Store, but won’t tell us why.”

Mr Musk added: “Do they hate free speech in America?

His comments come as many companies have halted spending on the social media platform due to Mr Musk’s content moderation plans, according to the BBC.

Cheerios-maker General Mills and German car manufacturer Volkswagen ended paid activities on the social media platform in recent days.

Mr Musk recently revealed Twitter’s verification system will become a paid service.
