Liverpool are reportedly out to ruin Tottenham’s transfer plans after being linked with a move for Morocco star Sofyan Amrabat. The midfielder, who has enjoyed an excellent World Cup so far, has been widely rumoured to be a target for Spurs in recent days but Antonio Conte could now face competition for his signature.
Amrabat has been a crucial part of Morocco’s success in Qatar, anchoring the midfield with aplomb and giving the side’s attacking talent the platform they need to deliver in forward areas. The 26-year-old currently represents Serie A side Fiorentina but his contract expires in 2024 and the club may need to consider selling him in the upcoming transfer windows in order to maximise his value.
Earlier this week reports in Italy suggested Conte was interested in taking the player to North London following his performances at the World Cup. The club have held an interest in the player since the transfer window last January but could be set to solidify this following his displays on the global stage.
However, they could now face competition for his signature after Corriere dello Sport reported that Liverpool are also eying a potential mood. The Reds have looked weak in midfield so far this season and Jurgen Klopp is now said to be looking at Amrabat as a way to address this issue.

Both Tottenham and Liverpool have been underwhelming in spells this season are likely to be active this January as they look to improve their squads.
Spurs enjoyed their best-ever start to a Premier League season after 10 games but their form has fallen off in the games since. The club have won just two of their five matches after beating Everton in October while they have also been knocked out of the EFL Cup. They have conceded the first goal in each of their last eight matches in all competitions something Conte will be desperate to sort out when domestic football gets back underway.
In contrast, Liverpool have failed to gain any real momentum over the course of the campaign as they fail to live up to their performance levels from the past few years. They currently sit sixth in the table and 15 points off first-place Arsenal despite taking the title fight to the final day last season.
It remains to be seen whether or not either side will make a move for Amrabat but it is clear they both need to strengthen in order to achieve their aims throughout the rest of the season.
