Lilibet and Archie tipped for surprise UK appearance on 'incredibly sad' day for dad Harry

Lilibet and Archie Mountbatten-Windsor could be “reunited” with their grieving father, Prince Harry, on an “incredibly sad” day for the Duke, a royal expert has suggested. The Duke of Sussex looked heartbroken during the coffin procession carrying his grandmother’s coffin on Wednesday.

He was pictured wiping his eyes during the ceremonial walk from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall, where the Archbishop of Canterbury and Dean of Westminster gave a short service.

He was joined by his wife, Meghan, who kept hold of his hand as the pair exited the Palace of Westminster.

Just a day after the solemn procession, the prince is marking his 38th birthday as preparations for the Queen’s state funeral continue.

Monday has been declared a bank holiday as the country observes the Queen being laid to rest.

The day is going to be an “incredibly sad birthday for Harry”, the BBC’s former royal correspondent, Jennie Bond, has said.

It will likely be a “very quiet day”, but one that could be brightened by a reunion with young Archie, three, and one-year-old Lilibet, she said.

Ms Bond told OK! Magazine: “I’m sure he will spend Thursday very, very quietly.

“There have been suggestions that the children are going to be flown over with Meghan’s mother Doria, so he can be reunited with them, but who knows?”

Last month marked the 25th anniversary of the former Princess of Wales’s death, when Harry was about to become a teenager.

Ms Bond said: “It’s going to be another incredibly sad birthday for Harry, which will surely recall memories of 25 years ago when he turned 13 a couple of weeks after his mother died.”

She added: “You have to feel for Harry, though, you really do. I’m sure it will be just a very quiet day.”

Ahead of the anniversary of Princess Diana’s death, Prince Harry said he wished his late mother could have met Meghan and the couple’s young children.

He said: “I want it to be a day filled with memories of her incredible work and love for the way she did it.

“I want it to be a day to share the spirit of my mum with my family, with my children, who I wish could have met her.”
