'Inappropriate!' Oprah under fire as she weighs in on Meghan Markle's bombshell claims

Broadcaster Kinsey Schofield claimed Ms Winfrey’s actions were inappropriate as Britain was currently in a mourning period for Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away last week. Ms Schofield apologised as an American on behalf of Oprah Winfrey and claimed that she should not be inserting herself in the headlines associated with the Royal Family at this time. Ms Winfrey this week told Gail King she did not realise her interview with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry would include “bombshell” allegations.

Ms Schofield told GB News: “First of all I would just like to apologise because, at this point in time, I feel like your country should have a moment to mourn.

“And Oprah should not be inserting herself in the headlines associated with this.

“So I would like to apologise as an American for this American personality, I’m sorry.

“But yes she recently did a sit-down interview with Gail King on CBS and said she never intended for Harry and Meghan’s interview to be a bombshell interview.

The American broadcaster added: “I would just like to raise my hand and say actually, Oprah, my friend Adam Glenn interviewed you on the street in January of 2020 where you ripped into the entire Megxit situation, took up for Harry and Meghan, accused the Palace of lying and we have receipts.

“I know Oprah is likely looking for an invitation to the coronation but that is very unrealistic, and I just think her actions are completely inappropriate right now.

“No one wants to hear from you right now Oprah, sit down.”

Ms Winfrey’s interview with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex last year sent shockwaves through the Royal Family due to a number of claims from the royal pair.

“But I didn’t set out to do a ‘bombshell’ interview. I set out to do an interview, have a conversation that would allow them to tell their story.”

Ms Winfrey claimed: “I do not get into people’s family matters.

“Everybody who has experienced some challenges in their families with in-laws or brothers or sisters knows how difficult some of those situations can be and I’m sure that you know for the Royal Family, it’s no different.”

“And nobody comes talks to me about their family business so I try and stay out of people’s family business!”
