'Feel like I'm gonna faint' Kelvin Fletcher struggles with 'brutal' farming lifestyle

Kelvin Fletcher, who is well known for his role as Andy Sugden on Emmerdale, has been documenting his experience of becoming a first time farmer for a new BBC series. The 37-year-old, who grew up in Greater Manchester, appeared on Friday’s instalment of The One Show with his wife Liz to discuss their new life on a 120-acre farm. However, he was quick to admit he needed as much help as possible from his neighbours.

The former Strictly Come Dancing winner has lived his whole life in Oldham but recently decided to move his family to the countryside to run his own farm.

Following his Strictly win he purchased a former working farm on the edge of The Peak District National Park.

His family’s journey from the city to the countryside has been documented in a new BBC show called Kelvin’s Big Farming Adventure which airs next week.

BBC viewers got a taste of the show ahead of it landing on screens on Friday’s episode of The One Show.

He told Jilly he felt like he could “hardly breathe” before she scoffed: “They must have been kind to you on Emmerdale, I’ll tell you that.”

After watching the clip back with The One Show presenters, host Alex said their straight-talking neighbour Jilly didn’t take any prisoners.

Liz replied: “She says we are still not farmers.”

Her husband added: “She’s been our first point of call and has very much been our mentor and dare I say she’s now part of the family.
