Two Asda shoppers were branded “lazy” for visiting an Asda in full pyjamas and dressing gown in the middle of the afternoon.

Another customer said she was “mortified” for the women, who she claims arrived in the casual attire at around 5pm yesterday. They proceeded to complete their food shop at the supermarket in Sculcoates, Hull.

The mum, who spotted the pair, said: “I just popped into the little Asda on Beverley Road after work, it was just before 5pm and two women were walking towards the store in their pyjamas and dressing gowns. I couldn’t believe it.

“If you are still in your pyjamas at that time of day that’s your business but to go to the shops like that is just bizarre. I would be mortified if someone saw me out and about in my pyjamas. They didn’t even look embarrassed or anything.”

Hull Live reports individual shops have rules about what clothing is appropriate in their stores.

Nevertheless, people online blasted the shoppers for being “lazy” and looking “scruffy” with the choice of clothes.

One person wrote on Facebook: “It’s lazy, it’s not very hygienic and it’s scruffy. It should not be allowed.”

Another shared: “Self-respect is obviously a thing of the past for some. What kind of example are they showing their kids?”

A third posted: “I think it’s horrendous, to be honest, to see grown women in dressing gowns at Asda.”

One mum wrote: “It’s just downright lazy I think.”

But other people defended the shoppers, suggesting it is often “easier” to put on whatever clothes you can.

One woman said: “I am disabled and to be honest it is easier and more comfortable for me to stay in PJs, even if I’m going out.”

Another Facebook user posted: “It’s absolutely mind-blowing how much people care about what other people are wearing. Go about your day and enjoy your life.”
