Prince William and Kate, the Princess of Wales will travel to the US between Wednesday, November 30 and Friday, December 2, for the second annual Earthshot Prize Awards Ceremony which is taking place in Boston, Massachusetts. The royal couple will be joined by activists, innovators, policymakers and performers as they award the five winners of this year’s global environmental prize.

This will be the couple’s first trip to the US since they last visited in 2014.

During their stay in Boston, the couple will attend a number of engagements of environmental interest.

It has been announced that they will get to know the city and the actions taken by local organisations to combat the effects of climate change.

Their visit will see them attend a special event with the Mayor of Boston, Michelle Wu, as well as a visit by the Prince to the John F Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum with Ambassador Caroline Kennedy.

Their Royal Highnesses will also spend time learning about some of the innovative green technologies that have been incubated in the area during a visit to Greentown Labs in Somerville.

The Prince and Princess will later take time to meet with those working to support vulnerable members of the local community.

They are set to hear about the efforts of Roca, a non-profit organisation working for nearly 35 years to bring public systems together in a cohesive approach to save and change the trajectory of the lives of high-risk young people.

Finally, Kate will visit the Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University, which researches into the lifelong impact of experiences in early childhood.

An announcement from Kensington Palace read: “The Prince and Princess are looking forward to spending time in Boston, and to learning more about the issues that are affecting local people, as well as to celebrating the incredible climate solutions that will be spotlighted through The Earthshot Prize.”

William and Kate’s visit to the United States comes after two separate surveys conducted by YouGov suggested that the couple were more popular than Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on both sides of the Atlantic.

The Prince of Wales registered a favourable rating of 64 percent among Americans, while he is viewed positively by 81 percent of Brits.

Kate was only narrowly behind with both groups, at 58 percent and 75 percent respectively.

However, according to YouGov, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s popularity appears to be stronger in the United States than in the United Kingdom.

Prince Harry registered a 52 percent favourable rating with Americans but his positivity figure stood at 39 percent with Brits.

DON’T MISS

Meghan’s rating was slightly lower at 28 percent in the UK and 43 percent in the US.

William and Kate’s visit to the United States also comes just before a major publicity blitz for Harry and Meghan.

The Sussex’s Netflix documentary series is released within a fortnight and the Duke’s “intimate and heartfelt” memoir, Spare, will be published on January 10.

According to the Telegraph, royal sources have insisted that the Prince and Princess of Wales “won’t be distracted” by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex during their US visit.

A foreign office source also told the broadsheet that the visit had not been planned with the Montecito-based couple in mind.
